Board of Directors and standing committees

AMBA is run by a seven-member Board of Directors: a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and three elected Directors. Officers and directors are elected at the annual meeting each May and take office at the start of the fiscal year on September 1.

Every one of them has a day job in this industry. Nobody here is staff.

Standing committees

Named in Article IV, Section 5 of the by-laws. Members are recommended by the President and approved by the Board each year. Chairs must be officers or employees of a Regular Member company.

Legislative Affairs

Tracks and analyses every bill affecting mortgage lending and real estate finance in Alaska, drafts position papers, and represents the industry to legislators and regulators. It has its own adopted charter and governance document. How it works.

Who may serve

Regular, Affiliate, and Non-Profit Agency members are all eligible, and every committee keeps a majority of Regular Members. Individual Members are not eligible under the by-laws.

The Alaska Mortgage Bankers Association has served Alaska’s mortgage and housing industry since 1976. AMBA is a 501(c)(6) trade association and is not a political action committee. Because AMBA engages in legislative advocacy, a portion of dues is not deductible as a business expense; the current percentage appears on your invoice.
