What the Alaska Mortgage Bankers Association is
The Alaska Mortgage Bankers Association is the trade association for the people and companies who originate, service, insure, appraise, and close mortgages in Alaska. It was founded in 1976. Its members include lenders, banks, credit unions, title companies, mortgage insurers, appraisers, and the firms that serve them.
AMBA is a 501(c)(6) non-profit. It is Alaska's own and not a chapter of anything, because this market is genuinely its own. Anchorage is where the association meets, not who it is: the Interior, the Valley, and Southeast are members, not outreach.
Mission
AMBA educates Alaska's mortgage professionals, keeps them current, connects them to each other, and represents them locally, in Juneau, and in Washington.

The Mark
There is an AMBA hidden in the logo
The mark is an A-frame home, a building type common in Alaska for climate reasons and comparatively rare almost everywhere else. Constructed inside the frame are four letters. The outer triangle gives the first A. The crossbar and the two interior posts resolve into the M and the B. The base and the legs give the second A.
It is a rebus that also reads as a building, which is why it works on its own without the wordmark beside it. Most people look at it for a year before they see it.
Who is in the room
Lenders, banks, credit unions, title companies, mortgage insurers, appraisers, and the firms that serve them. The board and the committees are drawn from all of it, and the association has been running since 1976.
