What an AMBA meeting is like
Ninety minutes over lunch, nine times a year, September through May. A speaker on something operational, half an hour of association business, and a room containing the lender, the title officer, the appraiser, and the MI rep who work the other side of your files.
Most of what this association is worth happens in the twenty minutes before lunch is served.
The format
When
Nine meetings, September through May. Roughly one a month, doors typically open at 11:30AM, lunch included in the in-person rate. No general membership meetings in June, July, or August unless the President calls one.
What happens
A speaker or panel on something operational, then association business: committee reports, legislative updates during session, new member introductions, and announcements.
Where
Venues are announced with each event. Parking and the room number are in the listing on the calendar, because those are the details that change.
What to wear
Whatever you wore to work. This is Alaska and it is a lunch, not a gala.
On video
Every meeting streams. The link goes to registered attendees the morning of. If you are in Fairbanks, the Valley, or Southeast, this is the whole point and it is included with membership.
How long
About ninety minutes end to end. Arrive fifteen minutes early if you want the part that is actually worth coming for.
What it costs
Members attend virtually at no charge. In-person meetings and every other AMBA event are discounted for members.

Current figures are on each listing on the calendar. Registration closes ahead of each in-person meeting because the caterer's guarantee is set from the closed count.
Who can come
Anyone. Meetings are not members-only.
Guests pay a non-member rate and are welcome without an invitation or an introduction. If you are considering membership, coming to one meeting will tell you more than any page on this site.
Once your company is a member, it can name as many officers and employees as it likes. The by-laws are explicit about this: the intention is to encourage participation, not to ration it.
First time?
Say so when you register. New attendees get introduced during the business portion, which sounds minor and is the reason people come back.
Sit at a table with people you do not know. The person across from you closes the other side of your files.
